Holiday Video at Sparksight: Behind the Scenes
This season, Sparksight started off the holidays by creating a holiday video to send to our clients. You may think hm typical, who doesn’t create something festive during the holidays? Think again. Sparksight thought outside of the toy box this year and came up with a fun present to send to our clients, which not only comes with a treat for our clients but also incorporates all employees in the magic. This gives each viewer a personal insight to each team member’s personality and creates a special virtual connection. This blog highlights key attributes of our interactive, “choose your own adventure” holiday video and showcases how a team of like-minded individuals spent the day getting in the Christmas spirit.
The Adventure Begins
With the stress of the holidays in full swing, Sparksight wanted to give our clients a source of entertainment to get them through the last few workdays of the year. As you can see in our video, every member of the Sparksight team has a special role and our interactions change the outcome of the viewer’s adventure. The experience begins with Drew Wolber discovering that a gift has been stolen from our office. This opening scene defines the audience’s mission, finding the culprit, and begins the tangled web of clues that eventually lead to uncovering the thief. With each decision made, a new scene and options persist until either the player is reverted back to the beginning or solves the mystery. So, Whudunit?
If someone asks you to dress as Santa and run through the parking lot only to get tackled in the grass… would you do it? Whether you made the company eggnog or willingly got tackled to the ground (do it for the shot, right?) all team members got on board to shoot our crazy holiday video in one day. Creativity and cheer is what drove our shoot and allowed our team to complete each part of the holiday video with ease. Lines? Didn’t have them. Most of the commentary in our holiday video was 100% made up on the spot, which allowed our true personalities to shine. The most enjoyable aspect of shooting the video was watching everyone’s on screen personalities come alive.
My Favorite Little Furry Addition
The cutest addition to our holiday video was of course Pepperoni, the definition of a good boy, who played the part of a furry elf. If you have not been to our Sparksight Austin office, this would be your first encounter with the friendly pup. He is our office mascot and in my opinion, the star of the show! Including Pepperoni is just one of the ways we let the culture we have here at Sparksight shine.
Proper Planning
Before working with Sparksight on this holiday video, I never considered the rigorous planning it takes to execute the production of all the interactive paths successfully. This experience was definitely a crash course on how much easier production can be if you spend the necessary time to plan each component. The engineer behind the magic sat the whole crew down and with a two-minute speech and a whiteboard web, explained what was needed from each character. With that, and a few notecards, our team transformed his tangled web into a creative campaign that gets the audience virtually hooked. After piecing the puzzle together, shooting the scenes for the holiday video took no time at all! I may have gotten tackled more than once but it was well worth the extra bruises to get the best shot.
The Ultimate Present
The purpose of our interactive video is to highlight the holiday discount we are offering clients, old and new, and to spread some serious cheer. Once you catch Party Santa red handed and stop him in his tracks, you reveal he was running away with a 20% discount offering. What a Grinch! But it is not just a part of the script; the generous discount is valid from now until the end of the year! Sparksight wanted to remind our customers in a fun way of the best savings yet and to give everyone a laugh at ourselves along the way. At Sparksight, we wanted to make sure our clients not only feel the gift of giving this season but also the joy of receiving regardless of their production needs.
A Blast From The Past
Every year Sparksight puts our creative minds to use and creates some sort of festive production. As you can see below, we have a tendency to put on quite the show. We really do think Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!
