Every project has a specific budget, however, some budgets are larger than others. The video producer’s job is to make sure the production stays within budget. All components of the video project are mapped out during pre-production planning to determine a cost friendly course of action.
Once you have planned for the basics you can begin to ask yourself whether or not your project needs a little extra razzle-dazzle. While lower budget productions have a very basic camera set up, higher budget productions typically have more moving parts. Things like additional crew members, actors, gear and special effects are all extra costs.
Investing Wisely in Video
If you don’t know what you want to accomplish with your video, it is hard to justify spending those precious marketing dollars. Think about the goal you want to accomplish and keep that in mind. As you consider making the investment in video, include promotion and distribution strategy as part of your planning process. Developing a well thought out strategy will help you allocate your budget appropriately and set you up for a successful return on investment.
If you are smart about the way you market your video, you could gain access to a much wider audience. For example, if you have a large social media following, it may be worth asking for for multiple short social media cuts optimized for mobile. Maybe you could use a few GIF clips to embed directly along with your next email campaign. You can even repurpose your video content for maximum long term return.
