About TED / TEDx:
In 1984, TED (the acronym being Technology, Entertainment, Design) began as a California conference where thought and industry leaders gathered and presented their best ideas in 18 minutes. The foundational principle of ideas worth spreading has since garnered the luminaries of industry, business, politics, music, art and science to talk about complex and leading-edge concepts in a simple, direct and compelling manner. The presenters of these live events have included such diverse notables as Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Al Gore, Nandan Nilekani, Elizabeth Gilbert, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. TEDTalks videos are widely distributed online. For more information, see www.ted.com and Twitter________ / Facebook __________
Since 2009, independent local ‘TEDx’ conferences have been held around the world with the TED Conference providing general guidance for the TEDx program.  TEDx (x = independently organized) events combine TEDTalks videos and live speakers as catalysts for deep discussion and connection in a more intimate group setting.
